Hulme Street, Manchester

We are involved in a dynamic new project in Manchester – Hulme Street Linear Park. The exciting design brief invites us to convert the existing street into a linear park for the use of the whole community. One of the main objectives is to create a mini-productive landscape where residents can grow fruit and vegetables.

We held an evening public consultation event on Tuesday 2nd August on Hulme Street itself where residents could drop-by, share their thoughts, look at our ideas and doodle theirs whilst enjoying the sunshine and home- cooked vegan food as part of the residents ‘People’s Kitchen’ event!

Further information about the project, including a radio report from the event can be found on the Tenants and Residents Association webpage (Redbricks – The Bentley House Estate In Hulme):

Once again we have an opportunity, as designers, to be involved in a project where we can help a community to realise its ambitions for changing its environment for the better.

Our client is City South Manchester and the residents of the Redbricks who have made their own application for funding with the help of Community Spaces facilitator, Dave Hammond.
