As part of a £49Million mixed use development with Squire and Partners for Lend Lease a major new piece of public realm has been created to act as a focal point for the community. The scheme includes major plazas for community events, enhanced pedestrian connections, groves of pine trees and sculptural lighting with proposed artworks bringing to light many details of the areas 800 years of fascinating history through Chaucer to Shakespeare, Farraday to Babbage.
A major new water feature artwork has been developed as an outward expression of the Sustainable Urban Drainage System, using harvested rainwater and renewable energy to express the cycle of rainfall and drought in the local area
in a creative and dynamic way.
The scheme has been developed with a wide range of stakeholders through a major public consultation exercise and extensive collaboration.
