BCA Landscape have been appointed by the University’s Estates Department to prepare a strategy for the
improvement of the Campus.
This Masterplan envisages comprehensive improvements to pedestrian movement on clearly defined routes, linking a series of proposed ‘collegiate’ spaces which relate to important buildings such as the Library, the Union and lecture and social centres. A rationalisation of car parking is the key to unlock this potential, requiring co-ordination with the University’s Travel Plan.
The strategy also identifies a spatial hierarchy for the University, promotes biodiversity, and provides guidance on materiality to enable the improvements to be co-ordinated as a number of phases.
The overall objective is to enrich the Campus landscape an integral part of the University experience, bring excellence of teaching, research and sporting prowess to more public display to provide a unique character.
