City Orchard is a collorative project between artists Sans Facon, Becky Sobell and BCA Landscape.
On the site of Worcester Royal Infirmary, the City Orchard aims to bridge the development gap between past and future campus developments and shape the development of future alterations.
The scheme includes a multi-level series of terraces, designed individually to provide a variety of experiences to people spending time in the Orchard as well as those passing through. A hard landscaped terrace at the top of the site provides space for student events such as markets, gatherings and graduation celebrations where as the lower terraces cater for smaller, more intimate use.
Utilising a range of local fruit varieties the City Orchard will grow into a social and productive space that will be a valuable asset to the University and the surrounding community.
Phase 2 of the Orchard will commence in the near future.
